CD Cover Design: Beyond The Now

A CD cover I designed for Phoenix-area band Beyond the Now (since broken up, sadly).

The metamorphic good is a mixture of ketchup, salsa, maple syrup, bbq sauce and flour. It was put into a bucket and my wife kindly stood in the mixture, stepped out, and walked away as in the illustration. I took lots of photos, and the footprints never did quite wash out of the back porch. The sky and clouds are from near Prescott, Arizona during the 2006 monsoon season.

Here is an associated poster designed to promote the new album. I also designed the logo several years back.

CD Cover Art Update for The Sammus Theory

The Sammus Theory is releasing an update to last year’s album, “See It Through” this Summer. The new disk has some new songs and other good stuff, so they wanted to slightly update the cover to indicate to their fans that this disk is similar, but worth checking out again.

Here’s the original:

Here’s the updated version:

To see the insides and the rest of the original work, here’s the link to the portfolio listing.

Artwork For New EP From The Sammus Theory

I just finished the new artwork for the latest disk from The Sammus Theory, called ‘Leaders of Decay’. It’s only available on iTunes and the like (except for a very limited run of signed prints), so all that was needed was a cover and a cd face. You get get the EP at The Sammus Theory’s myspace profile for $4.

In most of my artwork for The Sammus Theory, which is probably my most honest and ‘me’ of my commercial work, I imagine a reality just ‘under the skin’ where forces in our lives are brutal and obvious. In Something Special and See it Through the tie is there, perhaps being different instances of the same troubled figure. In a similar way, I wanted to revisit the Man Without Eyes character, who blindly consumes and destroys. Differently, however, I wanted to do so in a more real-world setting. Perhaps there is some purpose this time.
